Top 5 Sauternes – the Desert Island Selection

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Our 100 Top Sauternes offer has delighted many of you but also caused some confusion – how to choose from such an enormous selection!  This dilemma never happens in a typical supermarket or small wine shop where, if you are lucky, there is often only one wine to choose from.

So, to help anyone still racked with indecision we’ve done a video below in which I choose my top 5 Sauternes from the offer.  Why not find out which wines I’ve selected to accompany my Bible reading on my fictional desert island (or should that be dessert island?).

Remember all the wines have been stored in perfect conditions in Bordeaux ever since they were bottled and we will ship them to the UK for you in April/May.

To see my detailed tasting notes for every wine  and for links through to the offer at our online shop – Enjoy!

2007 and 2009 Sauternes tasting at Chateau de Fargues

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Introduction video here for the tasting we did on Friday of all the 2007 and 2009 Sauternes with Neal Martin of the Wine Advocate. We popped out of the room after every flight of 6 or 7 wines (leaving Neal to write his considered notes in peace) and did some short videos with my instant reactions. Steve will post them here over the next few days starting with the 2007s and moving on to the sensational 2009s (I still can’t quite get over the quality of these wines).

My full 2009 En Primeur tasting notes will be available soon – just give us your name and email in the box provided and we will make sure you get them. Bill Blatch
