Monday, November 29th, 2010

You will have to move super fast on this offer!

We have very limited stock at fantastic prices of some great Christmas Sauternes available by the bottle with FREE delivery to all UK mainland addresses (order by 12th December for Christmas delivery).  The link to our new online store and the offer is here:

Bordeaux Gold Christmas Sauternes Offer

We’ve done the offer by the bottle (or half bottle) so you can treat either yourself or your friends and family to the ultimate Christmas luxury.  You can also order more than one bottle because Sauternes is great with roast Turkey, Christmas pudding, mince pies, Christmas cheeses, Boxing Day leftovers and a wide range of seasonal snacks.

Here are some videos about the wines which are from the 2004, 2006 (yes that is Bill in a hammock) and 2007 vintages:

All of the wines have an extra US strip label as they were originally destined for US sale (but never distributed).  They have been shipped to the UK in refrigerated containers and are in perfect condition.  Please contact Steve via if you have any questions (e.g. shipping to non-UK mainland addresses).

2010 Sauternes Harvest News

Monday, November 8th, 2010

Lots of videos and news below on the 2010 Sauternes harvest.  I start with Chateau Coutet and an interview with their talented new young winemaker, Laurier Girardot.

After that just click on the link above or below the video for news from Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Chateau Suduiraut, Domaine de l’Alliance and Chateau Climens.  Every video gives a slightly different take on what appears to be another great vintage and undoubtedly one to watch.

2010 Sauternes – Vineyard Views

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

I’ve never seen such colour in the vineyards as in this 2010 Sauternes vintage.  After leaving the party at Chateau Guiraud ()see post below)  I just had to stop on my way to Chateau Coutet and film some of the vineyards and reflect on the harvest at Chateau d’Yquem and elsewhere.

I must point out that generally filming while driving is a very bad idea indeed but I couldn’t resist.  All I can say in my defence is that the roads in Sauternes are very sleepy and I do know them rather better than most.  Bill Blatch

2010 Sauternes – Harvest Party at Chateau Guiraud

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

A 2010 Sauternes Harvest Party – what fun!  Everyone at Chateau Guiraud was in high spirits when I popped in a couple of days ago including the inimitable Xavier Planty.  And why not?  It seems like another fantastic vintage for Sauternes – very different to the 2009 and it will be fascinating to compare them over the next few years.  In the video below I join in the party for a while and then manage to drag Xavier away to talk in his cellars about just why this is looking like another very special year.

Next up I shot some vineyard videos (I’ve never seen such colour on the vines) followed by trips to Chateau Coutet, Chateau Suduiraut, Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Domaine de l’Alliance and finally Chateau Climens.  It’ll take Steve a few days to process the videos and get them up here but together they tell the story of the 2010 harvest, and quite an epic it was!  Bill Blatch
