Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2007

Clos Haut-Peyraguey – 1st Growth Sauternes

Clos Haut Peyraguey, SauternesBill Blatch: With its cool summer and hot autumn, this was a perfect vintage for Sauternes, the former providing a very fine build-up of acidity, the latter great concentration and a beautiful run of botrytis. This Clos Haut Peyraguey, the first of young winemaker Anthony Defives, exactly reflects the vintage, with fine citrus undertones behind the big sweetness, making it seem less totally sweet than in fact it is. Great for drinking now, but will keep.
