Chateau Doisy Daene 1998

Chateau Doisy Daene – Second Growth Barsac

Bill Blatch: The story goes that Denis Duboudieu’s grandfather developed a taste for German Riesling when he was put to work in the vineyards as a prisoner in the Fist World War and then proceeded to try and make the same style of wine when he came home to Barsac. Whatever, certainly this ’98 really favours the freshness and fruit flavours that Denis encourages. It is now quite a soft wine, sweeter and denser than is uaual for this property with the freshness held by the fruit rather than by the acidity. Very charming, classically Barsac and a great wine for all occasions, and absolutely ready now.
