Ch Bastor Lamontagne 2009 En Primeur
Chateau Bastor Lamontagne – Sauternes
Bill Blatch: Fragrant and herbal, without excess of sweetness, allowing the acidity to shine through with a nice refreshing greenish tinge to it, this wine has a run-through of very pure fruit flavours (white fruit: pears, golden apples) that will make it ideal for fairly early drinking.
Wine Advocate – 90-92pts: This has a very rich, almost decadent nose with pineapple, almond, orange blossom and honey. The palate is rich with an admirable level of botrytis, well balanced with a fine sense of underlying minerality that defines the caressing, spice-tinged finish. Good potential. This is a Bastor-Lamontagne that is rediscovering form. Bravo!
Wine Spectator – Score 87-90 pts : Lemon meringue pie aromas follow through to a full body, with tangy acidity and dried fruits. Medium sweetness and medium finish.
Decanter –15.5 pts : Ripe pear aromas, pure, rich in texture but less round, more nervous than most, with a refreshing sensation of acidity. Pure, balanced but not the most faithful style of 2009.
Jancis Robinson – 15.5pts: Not much nose. Rather a simple nose in fact with a hint of burnt sugar. There is acidity and there is sweetness but I can’t see much botrytis and it’s only medium weight. Alcohol on the end. Simple barley sugar. Drink 2014-2020
