Valentine’s Day Sauternes
Someone’s Sweet on You!

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

I’ve always found Sauternes romantic – both the place and certainly the wines!  With such a high percentage of female wine makers and proprietors (Sandrine Garbay at d’Yquem, Bérénice Lurton at Climens, Aline Baly at Coutet, Martine Langlais-Pauly at Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Laure de Lambert des Granges at Sigalas-Rabaud, Marie-Pierre Lacoste at La Clotte-Cazalis to name a few) it is obvious that ‘Ladies Love Sauternes’ making it the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

We have selected 3 half bottles which we can send to your loved one with the message ‘Someone’s Sweet on You!‘  Here’s a quick video about the wines and a link to our online shop where they can be ordered.  Bill Blatch

2009 Sauternes – First Growths (1 of 2)

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

The smile on my face says it all! I have never tasted anything like this before – the 2009 Sauternes and Barsac First Growths are consistently brilliant. In this first of two videos I give my first impressions of Coutet, de Fargues, de Rayne Vigneau, Guiraud, Lafaurie-Peyraguey and La Tour Blanche – if you watch one video then this should be the one!

I’ve promised Steve that my full tasting notes will be written up very soon so don’t forget to sign up at the top right hand corner of the page if you haven’t already and would like to have them. Bill Blatch

2009 Sauternes – Château de Rayne-Vigneau

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

This short video outlines the different approach to blending taken at Château de Rayne-Vigneau for the 2009 vintage. The wine was excellent by the way but the video I shot of the barrel tasting was a bit dark and my head was missing! Bill Blatch
