2010 Sauternes First Harvest Videos

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

On a brief visit to some Sauternes vineyards in between trips to the States I managed to catch up with progress at Broustet, Climens, Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Guiraud and Raymond Lafon.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to visit more properties but we will do our best to get round as many as we can during the 2010 Sauternes harvest.

Take a peek at this first video of Didier Laulan and his nephew Guillaume Forcade talking in the vineyards of Chateau Broustet in Barsac below and then click on the link below the video to see the next video in the series (there are six short wine videos in total).

The videos, when combined, will give you a good insight into Sauternes 2010 vintage.  The grapes are ripe and Botrytis is beginning to form across the vineyards.  A little rain followed by warmer weather and some humidity would be ideal and could lead to another great vintage but too much rain or continued cold weather could dampen enthusiasm.  Let’s hope for the best!  Bill Blatch
