You will have to move super fast on this offer!

Bordeaux Gold Christmas Sauternes Offer

We’ve done the offer by the bottle (or half bottle) so you can treat either yourself or your friends and family to the ultimate Christmas luxury.  You can also order more than one bottle because Sauternes is great with roast Turkey, Christmas pudding, mince pies, Christmas cheeses, Boxing Day leftovers and a wide range of seasonal snacks.

Here are some videos about the wines which are from the 2004, 2006 (yes that is Bill in a hammock) and 2007 vintages:

All of the wines have an extra US strip label as they were originally destined for US sale (but never distributed).  They have been shipped to the UK in refrigerated containers and are in perfect condition.  Please contact Steve via steve@bordeauxgold.com if you have any questions (e.g. shipping to non-UK mainland addresses).

Chateau Climens 2009 as shown to the wine trade

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

For certain events, such as this presentation of the 2009 Chateau Climens to the Bordeaux Wine Trade, you will catch me in a suit!  Well as Berenice Lurton graciously treated us to some sumptuous older vintages as well as another look round the barrels at the 2009 it seemed appropriate, certainly the 90 year old 1920 Climens deserved respect!  Tasting a Barsac wine this old is a rare event even for me and the other Bordeaux negociants and courtiers in this video.  We were all struggling for words to describe the flavours!

Other vintages tasted were the 2008, 2007 (100 Wine Advocate points), 2006, 2005, 2004, 2000 and 1990 (the last two from magnificent double magnums.  Bill Blatch

2009 Sauternes – Château Nairac (with 2008, 2007 and 2006 as well)

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

A long but utterly fascinating verticle tasting of Château Nairac, Barsac with the co-owner, Nicolas Heeter-Tari, covering the 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006 vintages. The elegance and purity of these wines reflects the care and precision taken by Nicolas and his team – one look at the tasting table here and you know that you are in for a treat!

Final Barsac wine tastings to follow are Château Liot and a real find, Château La Clotte-Cazalis. Bill Blatch

2009 Sauternes Report 2 – February 2010

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I’m trying not to look cold (it was a bit early in the morning) as I make this video for you and report on another days tasting of the 2009 Sauternes vintage.

We visited Clos Haut-Peyraguey, Château d’Yquem, Château de Fargues, Château Guiraud, Château Raymond-Lafon and Château Sigalas-Rabaud. There are some fantastic wines emerging, and some very different styles, it’s exciting stuff.

I also tasted a wine that brought tears to my eyes and when you taste as much as I do, it doesn’t happen often. Watch the video to find out which one it was.
