2010 Chateau La Clotte-Cazalis
Chateau La Clotte Cazalis – Barsac
RELEASED 20th May 2010 – £169/case bottles or £185/case half bottles
Bill Blatch: As always, a lighter style of Barsac, not tremendously sweet but very finely concentrated into a very pure, light, cool-fruity wine of great purity and definition. A sort of Barsac version of Sauternes’ Bastor.
Jancis Robinson: 16/20 – Drink 2016-2024 (In a green bottle for some reason). Medium weight and sweetness and clean but without great botrytis impact. Just a tad sticky. Like one of those small bottles of Italian apricot juice. Some energy there.
Neal Martin: 88-90/100 – The Clotte-Cazalis is a little smudged on the nose, with touches of white flowers, honeycomb and vanilla. The palate is light and airy with good minerality, but just lacks some weight and persistence towards the finish. This is a pretty, if not profound Sauternes.
Jean-Marc Quarin: 16/20
