2009 Sauternes Report – February 2010

A day in Barsac checking up on the 2009 Sauternes vintage and we visited a range of properties from unclassified wines to first and second growths to get an across-the-board view.

Took in Château Climens, Château Coutet, Château Doisy-Vedrines, Château La Clotte-Cazalis and Château Liot.  We loved visiting the tiny Domaine de l’Alliance which has a wonderful story behind it and is producing some great wines from vineyards in Fargue. We’ll tell you more about them another time.

Finished the day at my favourite restaurant in Langon, Claude Darroze with a bottle of Château Nairac 1976… which went surprisingly well with the wild boar. Watch the video to discover how the vintage is shaping up, then leave us a comment or question below.
